Intramural Sports
****
Whatever sport you are looking to participate in, chances are we have a league or tournament to fit your interests. Whether you are an expert or an amateur...The sports coordinators regularly schedule intramural sports leagues throughout the year, such as volleyball, flag football, golf, basketball and softball. Various tournaments scheduled throughout the year are also available and allow friendly, competitive games to be played during the workday. Tournaments such as racquetball, dodge ball, and 3-on-3 basketball are just some examples.
The sports coordinators regularly schedule intramural sports leagues throughout the year, such as volleyball, flag football, golf, basketball and softball.
Championship tournaments are held for the top teams in each of the leagues at the end of the season. Other special tournaments are also held throughout the year and are open to anyone interested in participating. These include command, holiday, lunch and unique sports tournaments. Contact your local sports coordinator to find out what is coming up. If there is a particular sport that you are interested in that is not being offered, let our coordinators know.
Navy and Marine Corps athletes from around Navy Region Northwest take on troops from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in this annual standoff between the rival teams. Traditionally held in honor of the Army vs. Navy college game, each year the Army and Navy alternate hosting the event. The game is semi-contact, 9-on-9 flag football. Team tryouts are typically held in September.
The game is organized by Navy Region Northwest MWR in conjunction with Joint Base Lewis-McChord MWR. With the support of local businesses and organizations, admission to the game is free and open to the public. It is a great opportunity for the community to cheer on local Sailors, Marines, Soldiers and Airmen as they compete for bragging rights each year.
All-Navy Sports allows Sailors who possess the athletic skills to compete above the intramural level, in team or individual sports, a chance to represent the Navy at higher-level athletic competitions. All-Navy teams participate in the Department of War's Sports program and compete in the Armed Forces Championships against teams from the Marine Corps, Army and Air Force.
