The Navy Flag Football team looks to extend its seven game win streak over Army

The Northwest’s Army vs. Navy Flag Football is back for the 21st game. After a 2020 hiatus because of COVID precautions, Sailors, Marines, and Soldiers will take to the gridiron on Friday, Dec. 10, for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Cowen Stadium on Joint Base Lewis McChord.

This game is the 21st meeting of the Navy’s Flag Football Team from Navy Region Northwest and the Army team from Joint Base Lewis McChord. The first Army vs. Navy Flag Football Game began as the brainchild of former All-Pro Defensive End for the Oakland Raiders, Otis Sistrunk, in 2000. Sistrunk coached the Army team while employed as a Sports Program Coordinator at JBLM.

The Navy team will consist of 30 Sailors from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Naval Station Everett, and Naval Base Kitsap.  The Head Coach for the team is PSCS Richard Van Tine of the USS CHOSIN, homeported at Naval Station Everett.
