Things to do with your family to celebrate Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child, and it’s to recognize the important role children play in our military community. The Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) at Naval Station Everett would like to invite all the military families to join us in this month-long celebration. Below are events you and your family can participate in for the Month of the Military Child:

  • April 1-April 30, "The View from My Home" coloring activity, #theviewfrommyhome.

For the last 19 years, military children have had the opportunity to express their creativity through the Military Child Education Coalition's Call for the Arts campaign. This year the theme is "The View from My Home." FFSC would like to invite all military children to participate in our #theviewfrommyhome activity. Children can create pictures to represent the different places they have lived, or they can download one of our coloring maps, United States map, State maps, World map .

Show us what your child’s creative artwork with post on Facebook or Instagram with of a picture of them holding their artwork using the hashtag, #theviewfrommyhome. Please submit your pictures during April.

  • April 16, Wear purple on Purple Up Day. #PurpleUP

Wearing purple is a visible way for everyone to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices. The FFSC would like to invite all military families to wear the color purple on April 16 for Purple Up Day. Post a picture of yourself and your family, pets, or funs ways you can use the color purple on Facebook or Instagram using #PurpleUP to show support and thank military children for their strength and resiliency.

  • April 17, Month of the Military Child Drive-thru event

.FFSC's New Parent Support Program will host the Month of the Military Child Drive-Thru event as a chance to recognize and honor the service of our youngest heroes, military children, with free giveaways and an opportunity to connect families to the different resources available to them.  

The Month of the Military Drive-Thru event is on Saturday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smokey Point Naval Logistic Complex parking lot. People are also encouraged to wear purple as a visible way to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices.
