Lion Heart Heroes Foundation Donates AED to NAVSTA Everett

The Lion Heart Heroes Foundation has donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Naval Station Everett. In honor of LCpl David Finlayson, The Lion Heart Heroes Foundation seeks to promote heart health for our military community.

The Lion Heart Heroes Foundation story: LCpl David Finlayson was the picture of health when he joined the Marines in 2011. He served as an assaultman, and he never missed his target. While on a five-mile training run with his battalion in Hawaii, his heart went into sudden cardiac arrest and he collapsed. Efforts to save him failed, and David died in November 2013, at age 25.

There is still no known cause for David's heart to stop. David had never had a simple EKG that might have revealed some kind of electrical disorder. It is in David's honor that his family started the foundation: To bring heart screening to our military heroes.

The AED is placed at the entrance to the East Track and Field. To view photos from the ceremony, please click here.
