Maintenance Worker

Location: Naval Base Kitsap - MWR Unaccompanied Housing

Pay Grade: NA-4749-05

Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent must have knowledge in general carpentry and painting, and a general working knowledge of the basic shop machines and their safe operating procedures. Must have some practical knowledge of the general trades involve in maintenance work. Must be familiar with basic tools and materials required in making routine repairs to buildings and ground structures. Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks to include a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).

Qualification Requirements: Basic knowledge of trade practices sufficient to complete simple tasks using common skills. Familiarity with safe use of common hand and powered tools. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests. Subject to possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts. Complete physical examination at a military medical facility maybe required for fitness for duty requirement. Maybe required to possess valid driver’s license as travel to other facilities within normal scope of duties maybe required. This position is subject to passing a favorable national background check.

Working Conditions: Incumbent will work both indoors and outdoors and will be required at times to work in inclement weather. Maybe exposed to the danger of cuts, bruises, burns and falls.
